Spring has come: 21 ways to a happier you

Welcome back

I love Spring, it’s one of my favorite seasons because it’s so hopeful. It promises renewal, new life, new beginnings. I always have more energy, vitality and have an excited feeling about what is coming next at this time of the year.

March is a great month to start focusing on bringing more joy into our lives and to create healthier, happier habits that will carry us through the rest of the year. 21 days is approximately the amount of time it takes to create a new neural pathway in the brain and therefore, a habit.

This is how we learn new behaviors:

  1. Unconscious incompetence (I’m not good at it but I have no idea!!)
  2. Conscious incompetence (I’m not good at it but I’m now aware of this!)
  3. Conscious competence (I can do it but it’s hard because I have to really think about it)
  4. Unconscious competence (I can do it automatically without thinking about it. A habit )

This means we can learn happier, healthier habits in just 21 days! To help you have a joyful month I’ve created you a happiness check-list of  21 activities, one for each day.

Getting the most of our your happiness check-list:

Print your checklist and tick off each task as you do it. Making progress, even if it’s gentle slow process, makes us feel good about ourselves.

If you miss a day, don’t give up! Get back on track as soon as you can and enjoy making joy a priority.

Start with the longer activities. Some tasks will only take you 5 minutes and are easy, others will take a bit longer and require more thought. It’s human nature to want to do the quickest ones first, but tackle the longer ones first then the rest will be easy.
